Hi all.
Were in the process of applying for an Australian visa and need one of the letters.
Problem is, without a KITAS, no-one is giving us a look in.
I heard this is issuesdfrom Polda, and not the regular police, and therefore the regular "channels" wont work when asking for this kind of letter.
Ive seen several different people about this but keep hitting a brick wall on this one.
Does anyone have a connection that may be of assistance with this?
Thanks
balibule
Hi Hinakos
It's called a surat keterangan catatan kepolisian.
I got mine from the Police office in Denpasar. They tried to charge me an unofficial 200,000 Rp for it but I got it for free after refusing to pay for it.
If you are a foreigner I don't think you can get one if you don't have a KITAS but I'm not 100% sure about this.
Their phone number is 0361 243 500 (Indo language only most likely) and the office I am talking about is in Jl WR Supratman (next to the mosque).
I'm just guessing here but wouldn't it be easier to get one of these from your Embassy?

bring your passport and proof of residence (one should report to the same kapolres when taking up residence, that piece of paper) to your local kantor polisi (polres not polda), ask for the department of Inteligence/data then ask them for the SKCK.
explain them what you need it for.

haha, didnt know i got the kepolisian and kriminal mixed up.
yep, i already went to intel (had to wake them up) and asked for this, with passport (and more) in hand.
no KITAS, no go.
explained i had lived here for 10 years and why i needed it, they didnt care about any explanantion, just wanted to see the KITAS before they did anything.
my business manager insists that this is the matter of polda, not polres.
i'll keep trying, but i think i may need to know someone.'
thanks Gil.

Hi Hinakos

thenks balibule.....seems Kitas is a pre-cursor. i thought "jalan bypass" was alive and well here. seems on this issue it doesnt work.

no worries hinakos, you're welcome...
so strange that they don't issue that simple piece of paper..the only thing they need to do is make a copy of passport and copy of the visa in the passport (one could even bring the copies themself) then write the personal data into the the form, press print and voila...one SKCK.
pay 'em 50K for their trouble and loss of naptime..done.
from personal experience, got that piece of paper when on working KITAS + when on sosbud + on kitas sponsored by wife, and all of 'em issued by Intel Polres.
hope you'll figure out how to get it..maybe for businessvisa one needs to go to the Polda, have no idea.
hinakos
Thanks for the input all.......but it seems without KITAS, its not happening.
Repeated attempts through various channles all head back to the same original issue...no Kitas - no SKCK.

jeez...sorry to hear that hinakos :(
How now to obtain an aussie visum if one doesn't have one of the 'surats' needed for this ?

we just have to use one from country of citizenship and plead our case once the question is asked as to why we couldnt get one from Indo.
in the meantime we have to pay though (and an oz spouse visa is over 2 grand).
